WHY GOVERNANCE
The decisions that shape culture happen at the top
Many organizations focus their anti-racism efforts on frontline / direct service education. Yet the decisions that most affect culture, priorities, accountability, and resource allocation are made at the Board table and within senior leadership teams. This workshop helps those leaders understand their role in identifying barriers, allocating resources, monitoring accountability, and sustaining change over time.
| If leadership accountability is unclear, organizational change rarely lasts.
The Challenge
Most organizations have commitments. Far fewer have governance that supports them
Commitments stated in public are not the same as oversight built into how the organization is governed. The questions leaders raise are leadership questions, and they need leadership answers.
The Board’s role
What responsibility does the Board actually hold and where does oversight begin?
Monitoring Accountability
How should accountability be tracked once “commitments” are made?
Commitment beyond statements
How do leaders demonstrate commitment past public statements?
Decisions and culture
How do governance decisions shape the culture that follows them?
